The Moog CP-251 Control Processor is a collection of classic basic circuits for generating, modifying, combining and distributing control signals. Used in connection with one or more Moogerfooger analog effects modules or other voltage-controlled gear, the CP-251 forms a modular analog synthesizer system, with the same kind of power and versatility of the classic MOOGä modular synthesizers. 

The CP-251 has these modular synthesizer functions:

  • Four Input Mixer combines up to four control voltages, up to two of which may be from expression pedals. Both inverting and non-inverting outputs are present. Controls include two input attenuators, master gain, and offset level. For making complex control signals. 
  • Lag Processor limits the rate of change of a control signal. Any control signal may be applied to the input. The RISE control limits the maximum upward rate of change at the output, from as fast as one volt per millisecond to as slow as one volt per second. The FALL control does the same for the maximum downward rate of change. For shaping waveforms such a square waves. 
  • Voltage-Controlled Low Frequency Oscillator produces triangular and square waves over the frequency range 0.2 Hz – 50 Hz. The frequency is determined by the setting of the RATE control and by the control voltage applied to the pedal input jack. For adding modulation to voltage-controlled gear. 
  • Two Attenuators enable two control voltages to be reduced according to the settings of the controls. 
  • Four-Way Multiple enables one control signal to be sent to as many as three destinations. 
  • Noise Source provides white noise for use as an audio or control signal. 
  • Sample and Hold produces stepwise control waveforms by sampling the signal at the IN jack at the rate of the signal at the TRIG jack. If these jacks are not used, bridging connections feed the Noise source to the IN jack and the LFO waveform to the TRIG jack, so that the OUT 1 signal is a random stepwise control waveform in which the steps go at the LFO rate. The OUT 2 is a smoothed version of the OUT 1, which is useful for generating slow, continuously-varying random control signals.
