The Radel Saarang electronic tambura (digital tanpura) is a microprocessor-controlled instrument designed to simulate the continuous acoustic drone of a traditional Indian tanpura for practice and concerts
Sound Generation: Uses high-quality digital recordings/samples of an acoustic tanpura embedded on a microchip.
Pitch Range: Covers more than one octave, easily accommodating both male and female vocal ranges (as well as instrumental accompaniment).
Tuning Options: Allows selection of standard drone notes like Pa, Ma, or Ni (Pancham, Madhyam, or Nishad) with clear LED indicators.
Custom Controls: Features digital buttons or knobs to adjust volume, tone (bass/treble), tempo (plucking speed), pluck softness, and note sustain.
Power Supply: Operates on universal AC mains voltage (90V–260V AC) or standard user-supplied AA batteries (typically 6 units) with an automatic switch-over feature during power outages.
Memory & Storage: Includes auto-save memory functions and user-defined preset slots to recall preferred pitch and volume settings.
Portability: Built into a compact, lightweight ABS cabinet (often around 0.5 kg to 1 kg depending on the specific model variant like the Micro V6 or Maestro).
